Dick has spent most of the day working above and below the truck, it looks like he is ready to go for a beer or two, and some well deserved relaxation.
This is a new fuel pump recently installed on the truck.
Here you can see a new transmission mount.
The dash still needs the gauges installed, but we have them in hand now and Dick will be putting them in soon.
Maryjane is always helping, here she is cleaning some paint off her hands with thinner, after painting the roll cage.
View in through the back window of the truck.

Roll cage painting.

This is what the workshop looks like from outside looking towards the Sea of Cortez, pretty much on the beach, and in a nice part of the world.
Maryjane and I (Rick) have painted the roll cage. This is the view behind the seats.
We used foam brushes and the paint was a very high quality enamel that went on real nice.
This is a view of the truck in the shop, Dick has a fully equipped shop and has all of the tools we need to get this truck racing.
Another view of the shop and our master mechanic Dick Bartell.
Dick removing the seats so Maryjane and I can paint the roll cage. You can see the new gauges on the seat.
Gregg working on one of four Fox shocks we have for the truck, Gregg is our shock expert.
He is replacing the end cap on two of the shocks, because the old caps were locked on and had to be pried loose.
Here you can see the new caps installed.
Gregg is a very valuable team member, he works alongside Dick our mechanic, and is also one of our race drivers.

Wisconsin plates.

Close up of fuel cell.
Wisconsin plates for our Baja race truck, hope we don't get pulled over for anything.
Here is a picture of one of the dust lights Dick installed, which are required for racing, Dick installed two lights for redundancy.
Dick and Maryjane working on taking the seats out so we can paint the roll cage and install the new safety harnesses.
Here you can see a close up view of the fuel connections for the fuel cell.
The fuel cell is now installed in the truck and looks real good back there. You can still see the temporary fuel tank in the front left corner of the box.

The new fuel cell.

This is the race approved fuel cell that Dick has installed in the truck. We calculate that we can get about 350 miles out of this tank without a refuel.

These pictures were taken just before we pulled the truck in the garage for the first time and started working on it.
We did not waste any time, we pulled the engine out and over the next month Dick replaced all the main components, performed a partial rebuild and inspected everything else to make sure we had a healthy and reliable engine.
We are using the stock 2.9L engine but in the future we will replace it with 4.0L Ford engine.
After that we built a roll cage which is a requirement for racing.
Last week we went for a test drive for the first time, we were happy with the results

Time is going very fast, with a month left before our first race the Norra Mexican 1000 we are running like crazy to get the truck ready.
